Analysis of the Teaching Methods .PART 3. Analysis of the learning strategies PART 4. Teaching Procedures PART 5. Blackboard Design.
Part 1 Analysis of the Teaching Material
Ⅰ.Status and Function
This unit is to talk about the past experience, so it is a good way to educate the students to love the nature and love their lives. This lesson is the first period of Unit 9.It is aiming at talking about the Present Perfect Tense with the pattern of Have you ever been to…? I’ve never been to…” All the activities in this unit are carried out around this topic. So this period is very important of this unit. If the students can learn this lesson well, it will be helpful to make the students learn the rest of this unit. It increases the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading, and writing by learning the Present Perfect Tense. Such a topic is related to daily life, so it is helpful to raise learning interests of students and it will be also helpful to improve their spoken English.

PART 2 Analysis of the Teaching Methods
As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in middle school is to cultivate students’ basic abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson I’ll mainly use “Task-based” teaching method.. That is to say, I will let the Ss learn in real situations, help the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the conversation. Let them “Learning by using, Learning for using.” I will also use Situational Approach. Create enough communicative situations to stimulate students’ vision and hearing, so that they can get a better understanding about the tense, and get good situations to train their listening and spoken English. And in this lesson, Communicative Approach will be used. Students can learn the tense by communicating with each other in pairs or groups.
Part 3 Analysis of the learning strategies
I request the students to study English independenly cooperatively and investigatively. Each unit in Go for it contains pair work, group work and games. The students who sit at the same table and group can make a dialogue and learn from each other. It makes each student feel relaxed. They needn’t worry about making mistakes. It can arouse students to think and to say what they want to say. In this way, Students learning becomes more relaxing and pleasant in this kind of environment. I think interest is the best teacher. But with the heavy burden of study and impact of the traditional teaching, sometimes the students may lose the interest in learning and are not independent enough. So how to motivate them, develop their interest and build up their self-learning ability are the things that we teachers are considering about.
Part 4 Teaching Procedures
Step 1.Lead-in
Show two pictures of myself. Ask students some questions and talk about my past experience.
Purpose of my designing: The pictures can make the relationships between the Ss better. I do this to warm up the students. And it can produce the easy, active and free language environment.
Step 2. Presentation
1、Present some pictures. Ask Have you ever been to…? Help the students to answer. Yes,I have. (Me, too) / No, I haven’t. ( Me, neither).
Purpose of my designing: The students are familiar with the pictures. So it is easy to arouse students’ interests and they are eager to learn the knowledge.
2、present some other pictures. (Teach new words) So it’s very natural to go to the book Part1a. Then Let’s do Part1a Rank them from 1 to 5.
Step 3 Listening 1b, 2a and 2b
1. Complete 1b
A. T: Just now. I asked students to practice using the sentence pattern above. Perhaps some of the students are familiar with these. But some students are not. So I will give them some practice like listening practice. Let’s Look at the picture and see two other girls’ experience. Ask Can you see two girls in it? They are Claudia and Sarah. Let the students read the bubbles.
B. Listen to the conversation the first time them play the tape again.
C. Check the answers.
To make the lesson interesting, I’ll give the students some pencils or candies as prize after listening,
2. Complete 2a
A. T: Look at the map of the town on the screen. Talk about the picture.
B. Listen to the conversation. Circle the places you hear.
C. Check the answers.
3. Complete 2b
A. Some students have been to the places they have circled. Now read the sentences in 2b,
Make sure that the students understand the meaning.
B. Listen to the three conversations. Circle T or F.
C. Check the answers and pay attention to the Past Tense and the Present Perfect Tense.
Purpose of my designing: This step is employed to make the Ss get the general idea of the dialogue as a whole, At the same time let my Ss have a chance to practice their listening ability as well as know how to do listening exercise.
Step 4 Practice
1. Complete 2c.
Ask two students to read the sample dialogue. Have students work with their partners. Then ask several pairs of students say their conversations to the class.
Purpose of my designing: The students who sit at the same table and group can make a dialogue and learn each other. It makes each student feel relaxed. It can arouse students to think and to say what they want to say.
2.Survey and report
Give every student a piece of paper with a lot of questions. Then ask four students to form a group to Interview their classmates with these questions“Have you ever been to …?
When did you go there ? How did you go there ? Do you like there? Why?” After doing the survey, ask several pairs to give their report. Pay attention to the Past Tense and the Present Perfect Tense.
Purpose of my designing: it is helpful to raise learning interests of students and train the ability of cooperation. It will be also helpful to improve their spoken English.
3. Enjoy a chant
Ask six students to form a group and chant. They can make their own chant.
Have you ever been to Beijing? Once, once, once.
Have you ever been to Taoxin? Twice, twice, twice.
Have you ever been to Mount Tai? Several times, Several times.
Have you ever been toWuhu? Never, never, never.
Who has been to Shanghai? Nobody, nobody, nobody.
Who has been to Guilin? Only David has .
Purpose of my designing: The form of chant is very active. The students like to learn and to read. They can easily learn the new knowledge.
Step 5 Homework
Please take your personal photos tomorrow. Display the photos and talk about these photos.
Purpose of my designing: I think homework is so important that the Ss should speak English as much as they can in class or after class. It is necessary for the Ss to do some extensive exercises after class to consolidate the knowledge they learned.

Key phrases
|
I write the key words on the left in order to get the students to remember them. I write the target language in the middle in order to tell the students that this is the importance in this lesson. And I will underline “have” and “went” with colored chalk in order to call their attention to the difference between preset perfect tense and past tense. I write the key phrases about listening and practice on the right in order to help the students get a better understanding of these two parts..
The blackboard design is also very important. In my opinion, the blackboard design can reflect the teacher’s ability of mastering the lesson and leading the students to master the lesson easily.
My ideas of teaching this lesson
1. “Task-based” teaching is a very good method of teaching English. In this way, the students are the principal part of teaching. And they are clear what is their target, so they will try their best to get the target.
At the same time, some of the traditional methods are essential for my teaching, like reading and reciting. Because without some language input, we can’t put Task-based” teaching into practice.
2. English teaching should be close to daily life. After the students understand why they are studying English and how to use English, they will be more interested in it. Some one has said interest is the best teacher.
3.Some of the students are lack of confidence. So in the teaching process, we should encourage the students to join, observe, practice, think independently and cooperate. Change their thought from “I have to study.” to “I want to study.”
What I said above is the introduction of the teaching plan for unit 9 Section A1a-2c. Maybe some of the parts are not the best. But I have tried myself. Please tell me the disadvantages. I’ll be glad to hear that. That’s all. Thanks for your attending and cooperation.
